In the Armchair: Georgina Stancer

Georgina and I run a Paranormal reader group called Divining Tales together on Facebook, along with other authors. If Paranormal Women’s Fiction and Paranormal Romance are your thing, come and play. It’s such a supportive group, with plenty of chances to interact with the authors.

Settle in with a cuppa and find out all about Georgina.

What do you write?

I write paranormal and fantasy romance. I fell in love with the genre in my early to mid-twenties and couldn’t imagine writing anything else.

What sparks your urge to write and what do you find most challenging about being a writer?

Writing feels like coming home. It’s a place where I can be myself, where I can give voice to my darkest demons and my brightest hopes and dreams. Even though I write fiction, each book has a little piece of me inside. The most challenging part for me is having the time to sit down and write. I home educate my daughter, and until recently, my youngest son as well. So, my time is split between teaching and writing.

Which authors have influenced how you write?

There are so many amazing authors that have inspired me to write. Authors like Sherrilyn McQueen (formerly Kenyon), Donna Grant, Terry Pratchett, and Kresley Cole, to name a few. But the one that sparked my interest in paranormal romance was Anya Bast. Her book Witch Fire was the one that began my love affair with the genre. >>That’s going straight on my TBR! n <<

What are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on the third and final book in the Infernal Hearts series. Heart of the Cursed is due for release in July 2022. It’s a post-apocalypse paranormal romance where humans are hunted by paranormal creatures that have taken over the planet. >>What a great concept. n <<

Which of your own characters would you swap lives with?

The character I would love to swap lives with at the moment is Selene from Heart of the Cursed, but it changes with each book I write. Selene is a force to be reckoned with and I’m really enjoying writing her story. I can’t wait to see how things work out for her and Arun.

What advice would you give others starting their writing journey?

The advice I would give is the same advice I received when I first started. Don’t worry about spellings, grammar, punctuation, word count, none of the editing process. Just sit down and write. I know that’s easier said than done sometimes. I know it can feel daunting when staring at a blank screen or piece of paper, but just start with one word and then one sentence and see where it goes from there. You might be surprised at where those first steps will take you. But most importantly, enjoy the journey.

What would you do to save the ones you love?

Ebony never thought she would be put in a situation where that question would come up, how wrong she had been. All she wanted was a simple life, was that too much to ask for? No, she didn’t think so, but it was moving further out of her reach as each day passed by. The only thing standing between her and her nightmare is the dark and mysterious Storm.

From the moment Storm laid eyes on Ebony he knew there was something different about her, but that wasn’t all. She was hiding a deep dark secret, one he was intent on uncovering. What he hadn’t counted on was the danger that stalked her from the shadows.

Is it possible he could be her salvation? But more importantly, can he keep them both alive long enough to find out her secret? Or will it destroy them both?
